Man of Light

Sunday, April 11th, 2004

He walks life road as best he can,
Burdened by onus, from mortal man,
A beacon glowing ‘cross the night.
Always ready to help others,
Without biased judgment of earth’s brothers,
He is come to set men’s affairs aright.
He lived so long ago,
Yet gave his life, for all tomorrow’s,
Set mankind on gentle flight.
Paying a debt he did not owe,
As ransom paid against demonic foe,
And species blind reigns its sight.
Although he was unjustly slain,
Nailed to a cross with men’s disdain,
But overcame the tyrants’ might.
But deaths grip was not final,
His rise from tomb, as death’s denial,
And spreads over all his precious light.
Giving us all needed hope,
Redeeming souls’ dangling from sins’ rope,
Darkness passed, the path now bright.
Oh blessed our savior, the Man of Light.

Fame and Infamy

Sunday, March 14th, 2004

(Another Tandem poem, Fame was written by myself while Infamy was written by my talented cowriter ER Barker)

The bright lights are often blinding,
I like the spotlight
Sometimes I want out, but the contract is binding,
So if the cops come, I’ll put up a fight
The cheers of the audience fill the air,
Courtroom antics at every turn
I live hte high life with nary a care,
Something inside me churns
Jetting from place to place,
Even my dreams are haunted
Living at quite a fast pace,
Seeing myself on America’s Most Wanted
Some ngihts I dream of my old life,
Back in the day
But in this new gig I do strive,
The need to be infamous held sway
The night is over, the lights dim
Hiding out’s not my idea of fun
This life fills me with renewed vigor and vim,
One day I’ll take a bullet and be done

Right Here Waiting

Saturday, January 31st, 2004

(This was my first tandem poem I wrote, my very talented co-author being Tedi)

Here I sit, feeling alone
Everyone’s left, everyone’s gone.
Yet I don’t give up hope,
Waiting for you, trying to cope.
Others tell me I should move on,
They tell me accept that its over and done.
But for some reaosn I can’t, not yet,
My heart keeps saying take a bet
So even though it makes me seem a fool,
I’ll stay right here, I’ll keep my cool
Whether to stay or not I’ll keep debating,
But in the meantime, i’ll be right here…waiting.
