More Power to Ya (If You’re in the UK)

Wednesday, September 20th, 2006

Just heard about this product on CNet’s Buzz Out Loud podcast. It’s a standard AA battery with a built in charger. The top of the battery flips up to reveal a usb dongle so you can charge it via your computer. The downside? Right now it’s only available in the UK. But hopefully they’ll come to the states soon. Also they’re working on other size batteries.

Happy Little Video Game

Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006

Heard some of the strangest news I’ve heard in a while on CNet’s Gadgettes podcast. Apparently AGFRAG Entertainment is developing a video game based on Bob Ross. Yes folks, sometime in the future you can make happy little trees and poofy little clouds on your PC, Nintendo DS or Nintendo Revolution according to this article on IGN

There is also a contest where you can submit your own art and the winner gets their entry included on the box art.

iPod: Entertaining, Educating and Now Lifesaving.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

That’s correct, you’re iPod, or other mp3 device could help you save a life one day. The Sussex Ambulance Service in the UK has a page with audio files you can download to find out what to do in an emergency situation.

A few things though, as mentioned on the site:

  • These are not substitutes for actual training.
  • You should listen to them before they are needed to get a general idea of what to do.
  • If an actual situation does arise having an actual person talking you through what needs to be done is better than the mp3s if possible.

Read about this on the Buzz Out Loud Lounge over at CNet’s forums. According to a story at Kotaku, a guild known as The Imperial Order on the Detheroc server has completed various quests that gave them the needed items to unlock new content for the game. However they have said they won’t unlock the content until someone pays them 5,000 gold in the game.

    A Possible Solution?

    Friday, December 23rd, 2005

Just found out that WordPress 2.0 is scheduled to debut on December 26. And while most of the changes are under the hood, Asymptomatic has a posting with a list of some of the new features.

The one that caught my eye though was

New Import System - The new import system leverages the abstraction done at the data layer, so that import routines can call simple functions to convert posts from other blogging tools instead of a huge complicated series of queries. Importers are also available directly from the admin, so no special process need be taken to employ them.

I won’t know for sure until I download the new version and try, but I’m hoping this will make my blog consolidation easier.

    It Takes All Types..

    Tuesday, July 5th, 2005

Well, I’m sure a lot of you know about NASA’s probe Deep Impact crashing into the Tempel 1 comet yesterday. Appearently a Russian astrologer is suing the space agency for $300 million worth of damages due to the fact that his horoscope is now distorted. Personally I think the lady is just after a quick buck. You can read the article from Reuters here.

    Surfing By Sound

    Thursday, November 25th, 2004

Found this interesting site that seems to be an experiment in how a blind person might be able to surf the net someday. Very interesting and while it’s probably still a long ways off from being usable in most sites it definitely has potential.

    iPod Tunes For All

    Thursday, November 25th, 2004

MacMinute has reported that DLO has come out with the iBoom, a boombox that you slip your iPod and can share your tunes with everyone. It also features an FM radio with four presets and when you use AC power instead of batteries it will charge the iPod at the same time. The only downside is it doesn’t work with the iPod Photo, but it will work with every other iPod including the mini.

    New Hosts

    Thursday, November 25th, 2004

Well, Kevin Rose posted on his blog the other day an update as to what’s happening over at The Screen Savers. New shows will start Monday Nov. 29th with two new hosts.

Kevin and Sarah will still be on the show but neither as a host, they’ll be making new content. So more dark tips from Kevin and window tips and downloads from Sarah.

I’ll give them a chance, but lately it seems like G4 is just trying to slowly kill off anything that used to be TechTV.

    PhotoPod?

    Sunday, October 10th, 2004

Just read an interesting article over at Think Secret.

According to rumors there’s a strong possibility Apple may be releasing a 60 gig iPod with a color screen and photo viewing capabilities as well as a video out port. Now personally I’m excited about this, not because of the photo viewing or video out port (which I’ll admit are nice). No, I’m excited because according to the rumors this new iPod will be able to sync with iPhoto similar to how the current models sync with iTunes. So, I’m hoping this means that just like with iTunes, iPhoto will be ported to Windows. Here’s hoping anyway.
