Highly Logical

Tuesday, March 21st, 2006

Friend just shared this site with me and thought I’d share with my readers. It’s a site with online, interactive logic puzzles. The ones where you have to read the clues and figure out the grid. Kind of addicting. You can try them out here.

Rock of Freedom

Got a link to this in my email, and while I never forward stuff on, I thought this was cool enough to share with my readers. The artist who did the work has some awesome talent. You can see the pictures here.

Merged

Thursday, March 2nd, 2006

Well, it took me a while, but I finally found a solution to my problem. What I did was download the WPexport plugin and used that to export the posts from my poetry blog into a Movable Type format and imported that file back into the main blog.

I still have to recategorize some of the merged posts, but that is still better than retyping each post one by one.

Update: Just finished with the recategorization. I’ll be leaving the former poetry page up for about a month before taking it down but anything new will be on the main blog.

Mafia Guild Runs Protection Racket on World of Warcraft

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

Read about this on the Buzz Out Loud Lounge over at CNet’s forums. According to a story at Kotaku, a guild known as The Imperial Order on the Detheroc server has completed various quests that gave them the needed items to unlock new content for the game. However they have said they won’t unlock the content until someone pays them 5,000 gold in the game.

Blowing Bubbles

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Just found out about a new online photo sharing service called Bubbleshare. While the end result isn’t quite as nice as Flickr they allow more photos and albums than Flickr’s free service. In fact you can have an unlimited number of albums with up to 100 photos per album. The catch is the albums have google ads, but I can live with that for the price.

  • You can find the entire list here.

    A Possible Solution?

    Friday, December 23rd, 2005

Just found out that WordPress 2.0 is scheduled to debut on December 26. And while most of the changes are under the hood, Asymptomatic has a posting with a list of some of the new features.

The one that caught my eye though was

New Import System – The new import system leverages the abstraction done at the data layer, so that import routines can call simple functions to convert posts from other blogging tools instead of a huge complicated series of queries. Importers are also available directly from the admin, so no special process need be taken to employ them.

I won’t know for sure until I download the new version and try, but I’m hoping this will make my blog consolidation easier.

    Merging Multiple WordPress Blogs

    Friday, December 23rd, 2005

I’m looking to consolidate all my blogs into one place, and I’ve finished moving posts from one already. However I did that one by hand and am not looking forward to doing that with the next one so if anyone knows how to export and import blog posts from one WordPress blog to another (without overwriting the posts in the new destination), I’d be most grateful t hear.

    The Write Stuff

    Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Just tried out this cool online word processor over at writely.com. I’d heard it mentioned on TWiT and it actually got a good review from John C. Dvorak. The feature I really like, at least right now, is the find and replace. Since I had to do some major editing on a couple things on the site and that was a lot quicker than replacing the text by hand. And it’s free so you can’t beat the price.

    Seeing Before Others See..

    Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Yay! Much DVD goodness will be coming in 2006. Not only will season 1 of Justice League in March. And I just found out that in April season 1 of The Sentinel will be out on DVD.

    Yankee Doodle Went to Google..

Are You a Yankee or a Rebel? Take this quiz and find out.

I was slightly surprised by my results,

41% (Yankee). Barely in the Yankee category

Mr. Monk and the iTunes Music Store

    Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

Well, I know this news is at least a day old, but just wanted to share my excitement that Apple has added more selections to their TV show section in the music store, including a show I enjoy, Monk. Granted I already have the first three seasons on DVD and I watch the new episodes as they air, but if for some reason I do end up missing an episode I might be willing to pay the $1.99 to catch it this way without waiting for reruns.

    No Longer Foreign…

I’m glad to report that after a long hiatus due to moving one of my favorite podcasts, the Domestic Life has returned. So if you’re interested in hearing about the day to day life of a family with two kids then give them a listen.

    I-Maniacs Auction

    Thursday, October 13th, 2005

The I-Maniacs are having an auction to raise funds for the club. If you’d like to get your hands on some nifty, neat and rare Invisible Man memorabilia (or know someone who might like some as a gift) then go check out the stuff that will be sold. And remember the funds help us in our continuing efforts to bring the show back in one form or another.

    I-ManiCon 2005 Report

    Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

Had an absolute blast at the con! Friday met up with I-Mom and Kersi, who is from Finland. I-Mom was running a bit late and had forgotten the business cards for the Frickin’ Friend ice breaker game, so my mom pretty much asked everyone who was walking by in the lobby if they had a business card until we had enough. After a few more people showed up we went to P. F. Changs for dinner. Afterwards some of us went to help put goody bags together for the con.

The con itself was awesome! Everyone who contributed to the goody bags did an awesome job. We did the Frickin’ Friend ice breaker after most everyone showed up, which is where you get half a business card and you have to find the person with the other half. We then watched some videos of stuff the I-Man cast had been in, including a Super Bowl commercial Paul Ben-Victor, a music video a fan had made and the episode of Talk Soup that Paul and Vincent Ventresca had guest hosted.

We also played an I-Man themed version of the Match Game, which got quite a few laughs from the audience. Hair care products came up quite a bit…

We also got to talk to Mike McCafferty on speakerphone which was cool.

After lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (good food, big portions, but slow service), we did the scavenger hunt which was lots of fun. My team tied for second, and the winners got homemade dolls of Hobbes and Darien.

A little later Paul Ben-Victor showed up a little before it was time to head to Sisley Italian Kitchen for the con dinner. He signed autographs and took pictures with us. We then all walked over to Sisley Italian Kitchen for dinner. We also met up with Eddie Jones and his wife Anita. The food was good and the service was excellent and afterwards Eddie also signed autographs and took photos with us.

After dinner we watched the pilot up in one of the hotel rooms and the first part of The Other Invisible Man so Kersi (who had never seen either) could see The Towel Rap. We would have watched the whole episode but most of us were beat and falling asleep anyway so we called it a night.

I took lots of pics of the con (and the trip in general), but I’m still sorting through them and trying to Remember names to faces, so it will be a bit longer before those are up.

Hopefully there will be an I-ManiCon next year, and if there is I’ll be there.

    California Adventures

    Saturday, July 9th, 2005

Well, been in California since late Wednesday night, and so far am having a blast. We went to Universal Studios Hollywood on Thursday, which was cool. We took a tram tour of the back lot and got to see a lot of the actual sets, plus experience some “disasters” including an earthquake, a collapsing bridge, falling into an Egyptian tomb and an attack by King Kong. We also saw a lot of the shows including Shrek 4-D and the Back to the Future ride among others.

Friday a friend of my mom’s picked us up and took us sight seeing, some of the stuff we saw included the Hollywood sign, Ventura beach and a spot up on one of thee Hollywood Hills which had a nice view of the valley below.

Heading down for the I-ManiCon in a minute, pictures of my adventures will be up someday.
