Life Turned Upside Down

Monday, June 5th, 2006

Well, I’m not going to go into details here, though some of my readers I talk to online know what’s going on, but anyway, I’d like to ask that you keep me and my family in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.. weeks.. months.. not sure how long this will be going on.

Sorry to be so vague but I just don’t feel like sharing the details with the entire world.

It’s Not Just The Humidity, It’s Also The Heat

Friday, June 3rd, 2005

Ugh, It’s already June and the building where I work still has the heat on. In most of the building the temperature is between 80 and 85 degrees, and humid as well, not fun working conditions. Luckily I can open some windows but there’s no cross-breeze so it only helps slightly.

We complained to our boss about it but he said he wasn’t going to talk to the people who handle the heating and cooling because it might “Make them mad.” So apparently, it’s ok that we’re irritated and working in abysmal conditions as long as the heating and cooling people not upset.

Snow Day? No Way.

Tuesday, January 11th, 2005

Well, I’m a little upset. Last Thursday night the place I work was closed due to the weather and I was told that people who called in sick and said they couldn’t make it due to the weather wouldn’t be charged a sick day. Now I could have made it but I had was getting over a bug or something and figured since it was a free day I’d stay home and recuperate some more.

Well, last night my boss comes around and says one of the people in charge decided not to give our shift a snow day after all. Our union is filing a group grievance on the issue and if we win we’ll get an extra vacation day, but the fact that we were told one thing and then they changed their mind is what really gets me.

Seeing Red (Just Not Clearly)

Friday, December 3rd, 2004

As you may recall I went and had my eyes checked and ordered two pair of glasses; one regular and one sunglasses. And I was told it would be about two weeks.

Well, called the day before Thanksgiving and was told the glasses were in. I went in the following Sunday and instead of what I’d ordered they had two pair of sunglasses, which weren’t even the same (the lenses were tinted green in one pair and grey in the other.)

I also found out when I ordered they should’ve given me a date they’d call by instead of just “a couple weeks”.

Anyway, the guy who helped me on Sunday said he’d find out what was going on with my other pair of glasses and would call me Monday. Well, it’s Friday now and still no word, so after I get my glasses (assuming I do) I don’t see myself going back there.

Goodbye Friends, Old & New

Friday, November 12th, 2004

Well, put another nail in the casket folks, the <sarcasm>brilliant</sarcasm> powers that be over at G4TechTV have decided to fire some of their best people after making most of them move from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Yesterday Alex, Yoshi, Dan and an unknown amount of behind the scenes people who unfortunately I don’t know their names but they helped make the show great.

I have to wonder what was going through the heads of the person(s) who made this decision. Yoshi was cool, the mods he did were awesome and inspiring. Dan was funny and also cool. And Alex, they didn’t even really give him time to find his “place.” I’ll admit when he first started I was apprehensive since I’d gotten used to Patrick, but after a while he really began to grow on me. I’m not sure if any of them will read this, but I just want to tell the people G4 let go yesterday that I know you’ll find a better job with a boss that appreciates you.

As far as I can tell Kevin and Sarah are the only people left on The Screen Savers from the TechTV days and I’ll check them out after the “revamp” which should be after the Thanksgiving break, but I’m not too confident with the way things are going that it’ll be an improvement. You don’t try and fix things that aren’t broken, but unfortuantly executives don’t always see it that way.

I just have to say if they get rid of Kevin and Sarah as well the channel will lose the few people they haven’t already run off from all their boneheaded decisions.

New Sight Soon

Tuesday, November 9th, 2004

Well, went and got an eye exam yesterday, unfortunately the place I went to has a special doctor just for my particular insurance and they don’t get in until 11am, so had about 4 hours of so after getting out of work before my appointment, luckily I was able to get a small nap. I’m glad I did since while we out we did some other stuff as well and I didn’t get home into bed until 3 in the afternoon.

Anywho, got my eyes reexamined, didn’t particularly like the doctor, thought she was just on the nice side of being rude and condescending, but that’s just my opinion. After that I looked around and picked out a pair of frames I like, unfortunately I have expensive tastes. My insurance (which for the record stinks, but probably most of them do) covers one pair of glasses a year, and even then it’s limited. I’m not sure if there a monetary cap, or if they cover a percentage but I had to pay for part of the first pair of glasses. I also got a second pair of prescription sunglasses, which I did get at a discount since I got the other pair but even with the insurance and the discount I had to drop a bit of cash. I have to say I’m glad I have a budget of sorts when it comes to my money and am diligent when it comes to saving.

I’ll have to cut back a bit on some personal items for a bit so I can get my Christmas shopping done in time, but I don’t foresee any major problems, and if anything does arise God will see me through.

Horror Of Horrors

Argh!! I taped The Screen Savers and Call for Help last night while I was at work, and The Screen Savers came out fine, but
the Call for Help part got cut off before the first commercial break!

Being Sick Stinks

Monday, October 29th, 2001

Well, I would have updated this the other day but I’ve kinda been sick with a cold or something, still am in fact, so here’s what’s been happening in my life lately. Saturday morning I went to church to help prepare for the hayride that night, we cut down limbs and got the bon fire ready and set up the wagon and straw (yes I know it was a hay ride, but we only had straw). After that I went to a card and comic store to play the Star Trek: Customizable Card Game with a couple friends, got two different games in, lost the first one but won the second. After I got home I decided not to go the hayride, just beacue I wasn’t feelig well and since it was cold outside I didn’t want to get even sicker. Sunday I was feeling even worse and almost didn’t go to church, but I made it. The evening service was led by the youth group last night and quite a few people gave their testimonies and a couple of them sang. I didn’t do anything that night tho cause my throat was sore and I didn’t feel up to speaking.
