Of Podcasts And RSS, Of iTunes And Firefox

Well, I’ve been getting my computer reorganized after my reinstall of everything and I have been able to eliminate a couple programs from my computer all together.

I had been using Doppler to download the podcasts I listen to, however with the release of iTunes version 4.9 Apple has added built in support for downloading podcasts. There are a few things I’m not sure I like, mainly the inability to easily convert the files to M4B format so make use of the iPod’s bookmarking feature. Support for Bittorrent would be nice as well but I can live without it. Overall though I have to say I like being able to eliminate a program and have all my audio needs in one place.

I was able to eliminate the stand alone RSS reader RSSOwl that I’d been using. I had been wanting to use one that was integrated into Firefox but I couldn’t find one that I liked. Well, I downloaded and tried Wizz RSS which integrates right into Firefox as a sidebar. A nice benefit of this is that ability to just drag and drop a feed into the reader instead of having to copy and paste a feed url like I had to do with RSSOwl.
