Midnight Stroll

As I walk along the beach,
The surf against my toes.
A misty spray in my face.
The moon seems to be within my reach.
I look over and smile,
At my traveling companion.
She seems so happy,
Silently we walk the sandy miles.
A lone gull cries out in the background,
As it gets later and we head for home.
No words are needed for my best friend and I,
I’m so glad I saved her from the pound.

Dying is a very dull, dreary affair. And my advice to you is to have nothing whatever to do with it. — W. Somerset Maugham
